The Things I Said

You drew, you drew
you dug, you dug
then you planted.
The roots, they grew
they dug, they dug
they reached deeper and deeper
and took a hold in the soil.
Then a flower grew.
Through the rain, the snow,
the harshness, the sweetness.
The honesty, the hope,
the love and the trust.
Then the fear and the uncertainty,
the miscommunications,
the loss of interest
and the hope for new beginnings.
It wilted, it grew, it wilted, it grew
but it was alive nonetheless.
Then you cut it.

There was silence in all the things I said
void of anger or hatred, just words.
Spoken out of the reality of life.
Some you win, some you learn.
